How does the teeth whitening process work?

Whilst you can opt to have only some of your teeth bleached in order to avoid a crown or veneer, we recommend whitening all of your teeth to provide a brighter smile.

The process involves you wearing a clear tray, filled with a bleaching gel, which gently whitens your teeth. Typically, you will need to wear the bleaching tray with the whitening gel for 1 to 2 hours per day for two weeks.

We use a temperature stabilised 6% Hydrogen Peroxide gel that is compliant with UK and EU legislation and perfectly safe for use. The gel formula will not harm the enamel on your teeth or present any issue regarding existing fillings.

Frequently asked questions

Who is teeth whitening suitable for?

Anyone with healthy gums who would like to improve their smile can undertake a teeth whitening treatment. If you have stains on your teeth from tobacco, coffee, tea and many other substances, our service is highly effective at removing them.

Is teeth whitening bad for your teeth?

Teeth whitening treatments, when administered and supervised by an experienced dentist, are perfectly safe and do not pose any risk to the health of your teeth. There’s a chance your gums will be sensitive to the chemicals used in the process. If this is a concern to you, please speak to us about it at your appointment.

Is the whitening process compatible with dentures and veneers?

Our whitening treatment is designed to enhance the natural whiteness of the enamel on your teeth. If you have restorations in place, such as dentures, crowns and veneers, they will not lighten with this process. You may need to consider replacing pre-existing dental work if you wish for any restorations to match the new shade of your natural teeth .

Are you fully qualified to deliver this treatment?

Yes. We are registered with the General Dental Council and qualified to deliver teeth whitening treatments. Our dentists are highly experienced, and they frequently refresh their training.

How long will the effects of the treatment last?

Teeth whitening is not permanent and you will need to look after your teeth once the process is finished. If you are able to avoid coffee, smoking and other activities that discolour your teeth, you may retain the effects for up to 2 or 3 years. Typically, around 12 to 18 months can be expected.
